The name Chrysocolla comes from the Greek word Chrysos meaning gold and Kola which translates to glue. A whisper of its rich and regal color scheme, golden shades mingled with Malachite, Turquoise, and Azurite – forming the magical blended gemstone known as the Eilat stone. It earned part of its name kola as it was one of the first materials to be used by goldsmiths to weld precious metals together. Artists and workers loved the stone and it was often used by renaissance painters, ground down to a pigment to be used in their most epic works of art. It was beloved by Emperors and Kings, known to be a stone that carried connotations of elite living.
Known as the Teaching Stone, the soft feminine energy of Chrysocolla stirs your curiosity and invites you out to seek higher knowledge. Despite its long illustrious history with emperors and kings, it is believed to be the stone of wise women around the world. It invites women to channel that energy into expression and creativity, to share their knowledge and their truth with the world, and to sit in the serenity of their own soul. It is also said to be the stone of hermits, lending its calming nature to help people stay sweet in feelings of seclusion.
Larimar helps stress-related imbalances, general anxiety and panic attacks. Larimar works by bringing balance and harmony with your energies to achieve overall calm, relaxation and unity within oneself. Larimar properties provide powers that are both mental and physical. It has been found only in one location: a mountainous, relatively inaccessible area in the province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic. Larimar is no longer mined - the mine was closed in August 2021.
In Native culture, the birch tree is strongly associated with guidance and protection. As the birch is a pioneer species this gives it a symbol of rebirth, new beginnings and growth. As a totem the Birch tree brings knowledge of ancient traditions and lost wisdom. It is believed that the birch tree is a protectant from lightning strikes and evil spirits.
The birch tree as a totem is associated with the Earth Renewal Moon which falls between December 22nd and January 19th. One of the most ancient and abundant of trees the birch tree was used for many things by First Nations Peoples. The bark was used for writing or painting stories on. The sap was used both as a syrup and a beverage. Teas and medicinal remedies were made from the bark and leaves of the birch. Placing the leaves of the birch tree on hot rocks in a sweat lodge creates a vapor that helps to cleanse the body and get rid of static electricity.
